Tomatoes scarcity looms in Kano State as 4,621 hectares of farms in the state has been infested by Tuta absoluta. Chairman, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Kano State, Abdullahi Maibreadi has called on the government at all levels to assist farmers with standard insecticide to mitigate the scourge of the reoccurring infestation of Tuta absoluta that has been plaguing farmers for almost 12 years. Zainab Olufunmi Kano A 40-year-old man, Hassan Kabiru was on Tuesday arraigned at a Kano Sharia Court for allegedly causing grievous hurt to one Haruna Ashiru. The defendant, who lives in Rimin Kebe Quarters, is facing a count charge of criminally causing grievous hurt. The prosecutor, Inspector Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the complainant, Ashiru, who resides in Tudun Wada Quarters, reported the matter at Gwale Police Station, Kano on April 19. The Vice-Chancellor, Bayero University Kano Professor Sagir Adamu, said Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital has conducted over 100 kidney transplants since its inception in 2002. Professor Sagir made the indication during a three-day kidney transplant and urology workshop organized by the tertiary education trust fund (Tetfund), held at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH). The Zonal Commander, Abdullahi Babale made the disclosure during the handing-over of the victims rescued by the Kano State Hisbah Board. The Public Relations Officer of the Command, SC Musbahu Lawan, disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the State Headquarters on Monday in Kano.
