    Breaking: Gov Yusuf Signs 2025 Appropriation Bill Into Law

    Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state has signed the 2025 appropriation bill to the tune of N719,755,417,664.

    The governor signed the bill on Tuesday at the government house, where he said the appropriation would be used to meet the government’s commitment to human and capital development of the state.

    According to him, the budget, presented to the House of Assembly on November 8, comprised of total recurrent expenditure N262,670,660,562.682 representing 36 percent of the total budget.

    Governor Yusuf explained that the capital expenditure of the total budget stands at N467,84,767,700.32, representing 64 percent.

    “The budget comprised of total recurrent expenditure N262,670,660,562.68, representing 36 percent of the total budget.

    “Capital expenditure, N467,84,767,100.32, representing 64 percent of the total budget,” he disclosed.

    The revenue profile, as a source of funding, according to the governor, stands at N29 billion, while Internally Generated Revenue stands at N85 billion.

    “For Federation Allocation, FAA, allocation 528, 373, 900.

    Kano Assembly Commits to Supporting Governor’s 2025 Budget

    “The budget reflects the commitment to improve the lives of the people of Kano through infrastructure and economic development through construction roads and bridges.

    “To also empower communities through agriculture and social welfare to address poverty. We will use the budget to improve education and security as well as women and youth empowerment,” he assured.

    Yusuf restated commitments to implement the policies to usher in a greater Kano state.

    He commended the assembly for signing the budget especially from the timing of his presentation.

    Earlier in a remark, the speaker, house of assembly, Jibril Isma’il Falgore recalled that the proposed 2025 Appropriation Bill which you presented before the Honorable House on Friday, 8th November 2024 had a total size of revenue and expenditure of N549,160,417,663.00 with recurrent and capital expenditure receiving 43% and 57% respectively.

    However, according to him, “while undertaking our constitutional duties the total request for additional funding arising from bilateral discussion with MDAs as well as those that came through Public Hearing and to which we have endorsed stand at N170,595,000,000.00.

    Education Gulps Lion Share Of Kano’s 2025 Proposed Budget

    This further brings the new budget size to stand at N719,755,417,663.00 with recurrent and capital expenditure receiving 36% and 64% respectively.

    “This further implies that the 2025 budget as presented by His Excellency to the tune of N549,160,417,663.00 is increased by N170,595,000,000.00 which we painstakingly sourced from the recovery of the Unremitted Oil Revenue (Refund to State Government), Value Added Tax, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and other grands coming from the Federal Government,” he said.
