Veteran broadcaster Ado Warawa shared his experiences in investigative journalism, while Professor Sulaiman Yar’adua of the department of mass communication BUK discussed the systemic challenges affecting investigative journalism in the region.
Yar’adua called for greater investment in journalist training and stronger legal frameworks to protect media practitioners.
The roundtable provided an opportunity for participants to share insights and recommendations.
Discussions focused on improving access to data, enhancing journalist safety measures, and navigating the evolving media landscape. Participants agreed on the importance of ethical reporting and the role of journalism in promoting transparency and accountability.
The event concluded with a commitment from participants to collaborate on initiatives that promote investigative journalism in the North-West.
