She stressed that, immediate concerns for the visits were primarily centered around health care service delivery and scores of renovation works, other equally pressing concerns were identified for possible redress by the Governor.

“However, for further and proper assessment of such needs, an on-the-spot committee was formed by the three Commissioners for follow-up and comprehensive feedback”

On the condition of the social homes during the visits, Saji said the major problems being encountered included a lack of readily accessible health facilities, dilapidated structures, and inadequate security personnel, among others.

While at the Remand Home, Hajiya Saji also appealed to her Works and Housing counterpart to look into the possibility of rretrieving some of her ministry’s structure at the Remand Home taken over by a government agency.

She said retrieving the structure is necessary to enable the staff of the home who operate in makeshift offices, to reclaim their structures for effective and efficient performance.

Addressing inmates at Remand Home, Goron Dutse, Honourable Saji particularly cautioned new inmates, most of whom were underage and apprehended during the recent protest.

She said she hopes that they have learnt their lessons and be of positive behavior when they are finally released, saying that the state will not take it lightly on anyone charged with any criminal offence in the future.

The commissioner also used the opportunity to advise parents who came for their children to always train them well and welcome any well-meaning relation or neighbour willing to partake in the discipline of their children.

Hajiya Saji then prayed for the inmates and wished them a changed, decent and meaningful future ahead.

The Commissioners were during the visits accompanied by their respective directors and key officers of their ministries.
