Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has called on the Kano Elders Media Association to support the government’s efforts in promoting the use of refined language in media discussions, particularly when defending the interests of political leaders in radio Programmes.
The Commissioner made this call when members of the association, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Waiya Urges Political Presenters to Promote Decent Language
Comrade Waiya expressed his delight at the commitment of respected and esteemed individuals to fostering responsible discourse in the media. He emphasized the need to curb the use of derogatory language against prominent figures while ensuring that political opposition remains peaceful and constructive.
Reaffirming his commitment to working closely with the association, Comrade Waiya assured them of their inclusion in the ministry’s upcoming training Programme for media commentators.
The initiative aims to enhance professionalism in public discourse and promote national unity.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Kano Elders Media Association, Alkali Sanusi Abdullahi, stated that the association was established in 2011 and that their visit was inspired by the Commissioner’s efforts to foster unity among media commentators.
He assured the government of their support in publicizing its programmes while advocating for responsible opposition.
Additionally, he urged the government to provide regular training for media for them to enhance their communication skills in the digital age.
Alkali also requested the ministry to allocate airtime on radio stations for the association to help in disseminating government policies and programs to the public.
