In an effort to improve maternal and child healthcare in Zamfara State, a corps member Nwogu Chinonso has donated drugs and other essential items worth hundreds of naira to selected Primary Health Care centers (PHCs) in Gusau.
The project was officially launched at the Emir’s Palace, where the state NYSC Coordinator, Alhaji Alhassan Abdulsalam, commended the corps member for the initiative.
He was represented by the Assistant Director, Corps Inspection and Monitoring, Mr. Isaac Maikur, who highlighted that the NYSC was established to promote unity, peace, and prosperity.nd development.
He emphasized that, Community Development Service (CDS), remains the core of the NYSC programme, as it serves as a vehicle to bring succor to the less privileged people.
Alhaji Alhasan therefore thanked the Emirate Council and the sponsors of the project for their support to ensuring that the corps member’s dream of touching lives within the service year was realised.
Speaking earlier, the corps member Mr Nwogu Chinonso who was able to identify the felt needs of his immediate community and reached out to partners to make the project a reality.
He appealed to well meaning philanthropists, corporate organisations, states and local governments to sponsor more CDS initiatives by corps.

In his remarks, the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello appreciated the corps member for the good gesture, which he said, is timely and will go a long way in reducing challenges faced by women during and after child birth.
Represented by the Senior District Head, Alhaji Bashir Kabir Danbaba also encouraged corps members serving in the state to emulate the initiator of the project.
The royal father also used the opportunity to advise serving Corps Members in the state to stay peaceful with their host communities and always adhere to safety protocols.
