Fulani Herdsmen in Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State are seeking support from the state government to boost milk production.

Specifically, they’re asking for animal feeds to sustain their over 5,000 cattle, which are struggling to find nutritious food now that the rainy season is over .

The herdsmen’s leader, Ahmadu Sulaiman, emphasized that these cattle produce thousands of liters of milk daily, which are then sold to milk processing companies.

He commended the state government for providing a veterinary clinic and ensuring regular vaccinations, which have improved animal health and created jobs for local youths.

To further support livestock development, Sulaiman urged the Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) to involve herdsmen in their enlightenment campaigns.

Interestingly, KSADP is currently constructing 100 Milk Collection Centres across the state, each equipped with solar-powered facilities and a 550-liter milk storage tank
