    FUDMA Student Killed by JTF, Sparking Protests, Road Blockage

    Academic and commercial activities have been paralyzed in Dutsinma local area of Katsina state following the killing of a student of the federal university Dutsinma, FUDMA, by the Civil Hunters (JTF).

    An eye witness confirmed to to Radio Nigerias Correspondent in Katsina that the incident followed a disagreement between the student Sa’id Abdulkadir Emir and members of Special Hunters (JTF) at Unguwar Kashe Naira close to the university take-off campus.

    According to him, the special hunters stopped the Okada rider, who was together with the deceased person, and they went ahead.

    One of them triggered his gun and shot at their bottoms, Sa’id Abdulkadir and the Okada man Abubakar Darawa.

    He added that the student died instantly while the Okada rider sustained gun shot and were rushed to General Hospital Dutsinma and later transferred to katsina for medication and to calm down the angry students who stormed the hospital while the culprits already took to their heels

    Similarly, one Ibrahim Lawal told radio nigeria Correspondent that, some students later blocked the main road linking katsina as the state capital and other local governments as well as other neighboring states seeking for justice to their colleague and the okada rider.

    He added that, the security personnel including army and the police have overpowered the students attempting to take the law into their hands and control the situation.

    On their own part, the Senate of Federal University Dutsinma has announced a one week Mid-Semester Break starting from Monday 24th, February 2025.

    The Vice Chancellor Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi announced the decision of the Senate and advised the students to leave campus before 6.00 PM today Monday 24th February 2025.

    The Management wishes the students a happy and peaceful mid-semester break.

    In an interview with the residents of Dutsinma town express worry over the activities of the special hunters (JTF) in the area citing many examples of their negative and on professional activities in the area.

    Many of them called for their relocation to another area especially to places that have been bastardized by security challenges.

    On their part, the Senate of Federal University Dutsin-Ma has announced a one-week Mid-Semester Break starting from Monday 24th, February 2025.
