Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has approved the immediate release of eleven automatic employment letters to the best performing graduates of Isa Kaita College of education Dutsin-ma IKCOE
The governor made the pronouncement at the second combined convocation of the college held in Dutsin-ma, Katsina State.
Malam Dikko Umar Radda explained that the students have shown both moral and academic excellence during their stay at the college hence the need to be rewarded and urged others to emulate them.
He also announced the donation of two million naira to three staffs s of the college who dedicated themselves to their responsibilities.
Dikko Radda also offered automatic scholarship to a female student who is physically challenge saying that, his administration will sponsor her education up to degree level.
The governor also assured to support the institution with the necessary security gadgets as well as construction of security watch towers within the premises to provide security of lives and properties.
He also assured his administration’s commitment to the education sector adding that, state government had offered permanent employment to over 700 N_power teachers in addition to the construction of classrooms at primary and secondary schools across the state.
Speaking earlier, the Provost of the college Dr. Ismaila Ado Funtua pointed out that the college recorded tremendous progress making it one of the best teacher training institutions in the county.
According to him, apart from the training of teachers at the NCE levels, the college has graduated 773 undergraduate students and were Conferred with bachelor’s degrees in education by the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Zaria.
He hinted that the college has a staff strength of 472 comprising 236 academic staff and non_academic staff
“Out of the total number 236 academic staff, 35 are PhD holders and 118 have acquired Masters Degrees in various fields”
The Provost also enumerates some challenges facing the institution, which include low intake, staff poaching, lack of access roads and drainages, logistics support, as well as general insecurity.
