The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ibashas made a commitment to prioritize the prompt payment of salaries to workers in the state.
This comes after the release of withheld local government allocations, which Ibas says will ensure that salaries are paid without delay.
Senate Approves State of Emergency in Rivers with Conditions
Ibas expressed concern over the suffering of the people in the Niger Delta region, despite its huge potential. He emphasized the need for transformation and accountability, warning that financial recklessness will not be tolerated.
To achieve this, Ibas directed local government areas to submit their wage bills, supported by relevant documentation, through the office of the Head of Service.
