The Kano State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has launched a digital governance initiative aimed at improving productivity, transparency, and service delivery across all 44 local government areas of the state.
Commissioner Alhaji Mohammed Tajo Othman disclosed this while distributing laptops to Local Government Planning Heads.
He explained that the devices will help streamline operations, enhance data analysis, reduce paperwork, and improve evidence-based decision-making.
“These laptops will enable planning officers to work more efficiently and focus on delivering projects that drive development.
They will also serve as long-term data repositories for decades to come,” Othman said.
He encouraged beneficiaries to undergo additional training outside working hours to sharpen their digital skills.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to due process, fairness, and transparency in line with the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Earlier, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Hajiya Fatima Adamu Barde, stressed that the adoption of technology in governance is vital for accountability and efficiency.
She described the initiative as a significant step toward strengthening good governance and assured that transparency would remain a top priority.
Barde also urged the laptop recipients to safeguard the devices and ensure they are strictly used for official purposes.
