Kano State-Led Accountability Mechanism (KANSLAM) says it has succeeded in influencing key decisions in budget allocation in Kano through advocacy to the government and relevant stakeholders.
The co-chair CSO Pharmacist, Maimuna Muhammad Yakubu, during a media parley organized by KANSLAM with support from Pathfinder International on the health sector accountability.
She explained that the aim of Kanslam is not to hunt anyone but rather to encourage accountability and transparency in the utilization of public funds.
Pharmacist Maimuna hinted that KanSLAM is committed to ensuring transparency and judicious utilization of funds in public sectors, especially healthcare and education.
In his remarks, the Director General of Kano State Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) Professor Salisu Ahmed expressed readiness to cooperate with the media to make his agency accountable to the people.
He explained that, PHIMA is always available on any inquiry or clarification from journalists for the overall good of the health sector in Kano state.
Also speaking the director Kano state public health department, Dr Imam Wada Bello urged journalists to always cross-check and verify the information before rushing to publish or broadcast.
He also advised journalists to always establish mutual trust with people in government for easy access to information.
The media Parley which is the first of its kind themed: “Strengthening Accountability and Progress: Bridging Commitments to Action for Women’s Health in Kano” witnessed large turnout of journalists and relevant stakeholders in the health sector.
