The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has criticized the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) for issuing a statement on Air Peace’s alleged pricing practices without consulting the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the primary regulator of airline fares.
Keyamo described the FCCPC’s statement as “very careless”, emphasizing that any review of airline fares should rightly involve the NCAA.

He warned that bypassing the NCAA could lead to regulatory overreach and institutional conflict, arguing that consumer protection in aviation must be handled through established channels.
The FCCPC had issued a warning to Air Peace over alleged exploitative ticket pricing and the possible prompting of other airlines to raise fares, stating its intention to continue its inquiry based on widespread consumer complaints .
