Kano State Governor KNSG  Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has flagged off the second round of polio immunization in  Ungoggo local government area.

Represented by the Commissioner of Health Kano, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, the governor explained that they’re targeting 3.9 million Children under 5 years of age in 44 local governments across the state.

Speaking to newsmen a caregiver Bilkisu Bello said they were happy with the polio vaccine.

“We are very happy because this vaccine is very useful

Another parent Maryam Ya’u stressed  that whoever didn’t bring his child to vaccination nowadays is left behind

“The vaccine is very important, we call on parents to bring their children because it is useful and protects children from diseases.”

Report shows that 30 states in Nigeria are infected which Kano state is among, however, quality campaigns across the country particularly in Kano are efforts to prevent the further spread of polio. to ensure all children are reached.

The resumption of immunization activities in Kano’s second round of OBR 2 campaign which began in April is one of several measures needed to stop polio transmission in Kano state and to halt the national spread of the virus.

Paradigm news reports that polio is a highly infectious disease, mostly affecting young children, that attacks the nervous system and can lead to spinal and respiratory paralysis, and in some cases death.
