Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, has commended the Mastercard Foundation and the WOFAN- ICON2 project for their efforts in promoting agricultural development in Nigeria.
Specifically, he applauded their role in leading the passage of the Agricultural Extension Bill, which has already passed its first reading at the National Assembly and is now heading for a public hearing.
“This bill aligns with the federal government’s policies, aiming to bring agricultural extension services to the forefront. The WOFAN- ICON2 project serves as a model for Nigeria, demonstrating effective agricultural extension practices”
A validation forum organized by WOFAN garnered significant support from both the executive and legislative arms of the government.
The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including government representatives, private sector players, international organizations, farmers, women-led agribusinesses, and media outlets from across Nigeria.
As Minister, Senator Abdullahi has emphasized his commitment to achieving food security, a key priority for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
He believes that with the government’s willpower and the expertise of organizations like Mastercard Foundation and WOFAN, Nigeria can overcome its agricultural challenges and even become a food exporter
