Kano State has been awarded the best state in Nigeria by the National Council on Education (NCE) for its outstanding performance in submitting its report based on national policy.
This prestigious award was received by the state’s Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, at the 68th NCE meeting held in Abuja.
According to the commissioner, the award recognizes Kano State’s commitment to prioritizing education, particularly under the leadership of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.
He stressed that, within just one year of his administration, significant reforms have been made, including the review of the 60-year-old Kano state education law and five other outdated policies.
“These efforts demonstrate the state’s dedication to aligning its education policies with national standards.
The commissioner explained that, the governor has also declared a state of emergency in the education sector and convened an education recovery conference to drive robust sector reform in collaboration with PLANE and Arewa consultative forum ACF.
Doguwa highlighted that, the Kano Ministry of Education is committed to continuing this excellent work, ensuring that students receive the best possible education to thrive in their future endeavors.

The event was graced by the Minister of Education, Mal. Tahir Mamman and the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, permanent secretary FME, 36 state commissioners of education and captains of the industry.
