The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant seizures of illicit drugs at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos and other locations across the country.

The statement explained that, the MMIA, NDLEA operatives arrested two suspects attempting to smuggle illicit substances to foreign destinations.

Yahaya Fatai Ayinla, 60, was arrested while attempting to ship cloths containing 400grams of skunk to New York, USA

He noted that,NDLEA officers also intercepted shipments of cocaine, tramadol, and other substances hidden in prayer beads, board games, and female clothing at logistics companies in Lagos.
These shipments were destined for Saudi Arabia, Poland, and the United Arab Emirates.
Femi pointed out that,raids in Kano, Kogi, Kaduna, Taraba, Abia, Osun, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) led to the seizure of large quantities of tramadol, skunk, and other illicit substances. Several suspects were arrested during these operations.
“727 blocks of compressed skunk weighing 479kg were recovered from a suspect in Kano,58,300 pills of tramadol were intercepted in Kogi state.40,200 tablets of tramadol 225mg were recovered from two suspects in Kwara state,21,700 capsules of tramadol were seized from a suspect in Kwara state”
The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa commended the officers for their operational successes.
He emphasized the agency’s commitment to reducing drug supply and demand, while also continuing its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization activities across the country.
