The Federal Government of Nigeria FG has deepened the existing relationship with the Republic of China on the impact of ideas and strengthening mutual understanding to ensure that stories, experiences and insights from Africa and China are understood in the world where narratives shape geopolitics.
At a seminar on the Promotion and Dissemination of Contemporary World Nigeria Magazine held in Abuja, the Director General of the Institute For Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR),Dr. Joseph Ochogwu said that the publication of contemporary World Nigeria magazine launched in November, 2022 stands both as a mirror and a bridge of Nigeria -China cooperation.

” A mirror that reflects the evolving global landscape through African and Chinese perspectives and a bridge that connects diverse people and political culture through dialogue, understanding, and shared development goals”
The DG explained that the Institute partnership with the contemporary world China is part of the overall strategic cooperation to promote better understanding and relationships between the two countries on one hand and Africa and China on the other.

“It is a publication that brings the world into perspective from nation-to-nation cooperation and international security, to peace building, development and governance. For us in Nigeria, it provides a new lens through which we can analyze and learn from China’s global engagement and internal successes -particularly in poverty alleviation, infrastructure and diplomatic strategy”.
“Our goal is to craft a coordinated approach to expand the reach of the magazine ensuring it is not only available in our universities and Libraries,but also used as a reference in think tanks, policy institutions, academic and media houses” said the DG.
In his remarks, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency,Yu Dunhai, who was represented by Dr. Wang Jun said that the Contemporary World Magazine is a product of cooperation between China and Nigeria.
And also one of the latest outcomes of the ever deepning academic culture exchanges between the two countries and Africa at large, which is aimed at enhancing cultural understanding and facilitating academic interaction to give impetuous to the development of state to state relations.
He strongly noted that the collaboration through the Contemporary world magazine will serve as a channel to culture and mutual learning, which will also facilitate innovative development.
The seminar brought together stakeholders from the Media, academia, government institutions and the diplomatic missions.
