Abuja, Nigeria – The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) has commenced a two-day capacity-building workshop for its senior staff, aimed at enhancing their professionalism, leadership, and management skills.
The workshop, which began on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, was declared open by Senator Hussain Babangida Uba, Chairman of the Senate Committee on the North West Development Commission.

In his remarks, Senator Uba commended Professor Abubakar O. Sulaiman, Director General of NILDS, for his unwavering commitment to staff development and the Institute’s growth.
Professor Sulaiman, in his presentation titled “Building Professionalism, Leadership, and Management Skills in the Public Service,” emphasized the distinction between managers and leaders.

He noted that while managers focus on competencies, good leaders drive value addition to foster meaningful change within a system.
