Pathfinder International organized a three-day training on budget tracking for members of the Kano state-led accountability mechanism KanSLAM.
The event held in Abuja aims to equip participants with the required knowledge on budget tracking and analysis.

Declaring the event open, a Member representing Ungogo Constituency who doubles as chairman of the House standing committee on appropriation, Kano State House of Assembly described the training as apt.
He highlighted the importance of the training in ensuring a citizens-oriented budget.

Alhaji Aminu reiterated the Kano State House of Assembly’s commitment to passing laws that uplift Kano to global standards.
The SPA, Pathfinder International Dr. Sakina Amin-Bello, emphasized the importance of accountability and capacity-building for accountability actors.
She expressed hope that the training would lead to the development of a 2024 budget performance scorecard for a better 2025, focusing on improvement on healthcare service delivery and women’s health.

The co-chair of CSO KanSLAM,Pharmacist Maimuna Muhammed Yakubu represented by Hajiya Aisha Hall Irish commended Pathfinder International for enhancing KanSLAM’s capacity.
She encouraged participants to apply their newfound knowledge towards state and national development.
During the session, Dr Muhammad Nura Yahaya, the newly appointed Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at the Kano State Ministry of Health DPRS, received his appointment letter as the new Co-Chair of KanSLAM government.
The training featured presentations on Kano state 2025-2027 MAMII implementation road map by the SWAP national coordinator Dr Ashiru Adamu Abubakar, the state budget circle and process, by Dalhatu Danladi from MoPB and a scrutiny of the Kano state 2024 budget, by the facilitator Comrade Safiyanu Bichi.
The training demonstrated Pathfinder International’s dedication to promoting accountability and transparency in governance, particularly in the healthcare sector.
