In a bid to support victims of insurgency and complement government relief efforts, a philanthropist and Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Marketer, has donated 600 bags of maize to affected residents of Dutsinma Local Government Area, Katsina State.
The donation was announced by Dr. Sabiu Liyadi, Chairman of the Dutsinma Progressive Forum (DPF), during a special event held at Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsinma.
The event also featured an endorsement of Governor Dikko Umar Radda for a second term in office.
Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim explained that the donation was part of his personal initiative to ease the suffering of insurgency victims and urged fellow citizens to emulate the act of compassion.
He stated that 600 victims were carefully selected to benefit from the gesture and advised the Dutsinma Development Forum (DDF), tasked with the distribution, to uphold transparency and the fear of God in their duties.
In a related development, the Member representing Dutsinma/Kurfi Federal Constituency, Hon. Aminu Balele Dan Arewa, provided financial support of six million naira (₦6,000,000), with ₦10,000 earmarked for each beneficiary, alongside the distribution of food items.
Represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Alhaji Ali Rabiu Kurfi, the lawmaker emphasized that the financial support is meant to alleviate the economic burden of those affected by banditry and bolster government’s anti-insurgency efforts.
He praised the Dutsinma Development Forum for their commitment to transparency and effective selection of beneficiaries.
Governor Dikko Umar Radda personally supervised the distribution of relief items to the beneficiaries, accompanied by Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim and other dignitaries.
