In a bid to facilitate the smooth observance of Ramadan, the Adamawa State Government has announced a review of movement restrictions on commercial tricycles in three metropolitan local government areas.

The affected local government areas include Yola North, Yola South, and Girei.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Humwashi Wonosikou, the government stated that the adjustment aims to allow Muslim faithful more flexibility to attend religious engagements during Ramadan.

“Effective immediately, the restriction, which previously ran from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM, has now been adjusted to 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM daily throughout the Ramadan fasting period.”

“This decision is intended to enable Muslim faithful to attend Tafsir sessions without hindrance,” the statement added.

Governor Fintiri also directed security agencies to intensify surveillance and enhance security operations across the state, particularly in Yola North, Yola South, and Girei, by deploying additional personnel to safeguard lives and property.

The governor further warned that anyone found violating the law will face the full weight of the law. He urged residents to remain law-abiding and avoid actions that could undermine the peace and stability of the state.

It will be recalled that the Adamawa State Government had initially imposed the Restriction of Movement of Tricycles/Motorcycles Executive Order No.1 of 2021 in February 2021 as part of security measures. However, in recognition of the significance of Ramadan, the government has deemed it necessary to ease the restriction temporarily.

Similarly, the Adamawa State Government has approved a temporary adjustment to official working hours for civil servants during the 2025 Holy Month of Ramadan.

In a statement issued in Yola on Tuesday by the State Head of Civil Service, Pharm. Isa Ardo Shehu, the government announced that official working hours will now be from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM instead of the usual 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved a change in official working hours during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Accordingly, instead of the normal 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, official working hours during the Ramadan fasting period will now be 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM,” the statement read.
