Renowned development expert and university administrator, Dr. Ibrahim Sani Kaita, has commended the Katsina State government’s innovative animal rearing project, describing it as a bold move to stimulate economic growth and development.

The project, launched by Governor Dikko Umar Radda, involves distributing goats to less privileged members of the community, aiming to empower vulnerable segments of society and promote self-sufficiency and financial stability.

Dr. Kaita highlighted the project’s potential to create employment opportunities for women and youth, eradicate social vices, and contribute significantly to the state’s GDP.

While acknowledging the challenges associated with animal rearing, such as diseases, feed and fodder scarcity, and inadequate policy support, Dr. Kaita emphasized the importance of careful planning, effective implementation, and stakeholder engagement to overcome these hurdles.

Dr. Kaita pointed out that there is a ready-made market for animal products, particularly in Africa and the Middle East, providing a significant opportunity for Katsina State to tap into the global market.
