The Kano state government has expressed willingness to change the living standards of any repentant thugs who chose to reintegrate into the society as born again.
State commissioner of information and internal affairs, comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya made the commitment while distributing Sallah clothing and #10,000 cash to over seven hundred repentant thugs in the state, under a peace initiative called “Safe Corridor”

The commissioner, urged the youth to keep to their promises and agreement with the government if dropping their arms, disengage from Thuggery, shun drugs abuse and social vices and embrace peace and value their life and that of the general public.
Waiya assured the repentant thugs if they keep to their promises, the state government under governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will initiate programs that will change their life in many aspects.
Earlier, renown Islamic scholar, Sheikh Nura Arzai in a brief preaching, advised the youth to go back to school and acquire more knowledge both Islamic and western for the betterment of their life.

Sheikh Nura Arzai urged the youth to imitate their life style of those youth who Allah SWT praised them in the Quran.
The event was attended by different interests group among the repentant thugs that ordinarily do not mingle together and the event was conducted peacefully under close supervision of the information commissioner, comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya
