The Kano Online Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has called on the Kano State Government to prioritize the rehabilitation of rural and community roads ahead of the rainy season.
This was contained in a communique issued at the end of the chapel congress signed by the chairman of the chapel Comrade Abdulqadir Dangambo and the secretary Isiyaku Ahmed.
The Congress, brought together representatives from various media organizations to discuss the Chapel’s progress and address pressing social and developmental issues.
The Congress also urged the government to provide essential farming inputs to local farmers to boost agricultural productivity and ensure a bumper harvest.
In a key resolution, the Congress approved N25,000 as a registration fee for new members joining the Chapel.
Members were also encouraged to familiarize themselves with the NUJ constitution to better understand their rights, responsibilities, and privileges.
Chairman of the Chapel, Comrade Abubakar A. Dangambo, welcomed members and commended their commitment toward the formation and strengthening of the Chapel.
He noted that the meeting was primarily convened to address matters related to membership registration and organizational development.
Comrade Dangambo also charged journalists to adhere strictly to ethical standards in their reporting and to focus on stories that serve the public interest.
Two reports the Secretariat and Financial Reports were presented during the Congress and subsequently adopted by members. Other matters discussed included the registration of new members and strategies for the effective running of the Chapel’s secretariat.
