The newly appointed Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services in Kano State, Retired Air Vice Marshal AVM Ibrahim Umar, has called for robust collaboration with all security agencies to effectively tackle the security challenges facing the state.
Speaking to the press shortly after assuming duty at the Ministry’s headquarters along Maiduguri Road, the Commissioner emphasized the importance of joint efforts in addressing insecurity.

Retired AVM Ibrahim Umar noted that while security matters are not new to him, achieving lasting solutions requires collective commitment.
“We will deepen collaboration with traditional rulers, religious leaders, security agencies, community stakeholders, and civil society in building resilient local security structures,” he stated.
Acknowledging the sensitivity of his new role, the Commissioner stressed that security is the foundation of all progress. He pledged to work with integrity and diligence to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
He expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Abba Kabir Yusuf, for finding him worthy of the appointment. He further pledged his commitment to promoting justice, equity, discipline, and the upliftment of the common man.
Kano Assembly Passes Bill Establishing State Security Agency
Earlier, in a welcome address on behalf of the Ministry’s management, the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Dan’asabe Yahya, assured the Commissioner of the Ministry’s unwavering support to help him achieve his mandate.
He also prayed for Allah’s guidance for the Commissioner to ensure a successful tenure.
Also speaking, an NNPP stalwart from Dala Local Government Area, Alhaji Kabiru Falaki, described the appointment of Retired AVMIbrahim Umar as well-deserved.
He highlighted the Commissioner’s distinguished 35-year service in the military and urged Ministry staff to offer their full support to ensure a successful administration.
The Commissioner’s arrival at the Ministry was marked by a warm reception from hundreds of NNPP supporters, who chanted slogans in appreciation of his humility and commitment to the welfare of the less privileged.
