To promote inclusive governance, strengthen engagement within the agricultural ecosystem, and address persistent bottlenecks in formal and informal markets, the Propcom+ FCDO program has organised a mobilisation meeting for accountability platforms to enhance public investment in the agriculture and livestock sectors.
The meeting, which brought together stakeholders from the program’s focal states Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Gombe, and Adamawa aimed to develop a coordinated approach to improving agricultural governance and service delivery.

Propcom+ FCDO outlined the objectives of the engagement.
He emphasised that the meeting was designed to establish Propcom+’s strategic position in response to government roles in agriculture service delivery, strengthen platforms of market enablers to improve governance and Support climate-resilient and conflict-sensitive agricultural practices at the sub-national level.

Yunusa maintained that the engagement will also facilitate linkages among state and local governments, the private sector, and non-state actors to scale sustainable market system solutions and provide a roadmap for state and local government-level engagement on the implementation of agricultural policies, plans, and budgets.

Participants at the meeting scrutinised their state agriculture and livestock budget by analysing allocations and releases.
The participants also identified grey areas, advocacy points through identifying relevant stakeholders for effective implementation of the state budgets.

Some parents of the participants who spoke to Paradigm News, Comrade Safiyanu Lawan Bichi from the Kano budget working group, Yusuf Goje, Civic Impact for Sustainable Development Foundation Kaduna and Samaila Idris, Northern Nigerian Youths Organisation, Gombe, described the workshop as apt.
They noted that they will ensure improved government responsiveness, enhanced service quality and accessibility, increased resource efficiency among others.
The meeting reaffirmed Propcom+’s commitment to catalysing systemic change that enhances productivity, sustainability, and resilience in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
The workshop, tagged mobilisation of actors for accountability platforms for improving the public investment of Agriculture and livestock, witnessed a large turnout of participants from CSOs, media, among others.
