President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved a one-year extension of the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
Mr. Adeniyi’s tenure, originally set to expire on August 31, 2025, will now continue until August 31, 2026.
This extension is intended to allow Mr. Adeniyi to consolidate key reforms and oversee the completion of several critical initiatives of the Tinubu administration, including:
The ongoing modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service;
Full implementation of the National Single Window Project; and
Nigeria’s effective participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
President Tinubu commends Mr. Adeniyi’s steadfast leadership, professionalism, and commitment to national service.
The President expresses confidence that this extension will further enhance the capacity of the Nigeria Customs Service to fulfill its strategic responsibilities in trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
