Kano-ACReSAL is actively participating in the ongoing Strategic Catchment Management Plan (SCMP) mission in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.
The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project remains committed to completing the development of the remaining 11 strategic catchments—including Gurara-Gbako, Sarkin-Powa-Kaduna, Okwa-Mada, Lokoja-Niger, and Aloma-Ebonyi—out of the 20 catchments earmarked for development within the project’s lifespan in Nigeria.
To date, ACReSAL has successfully developed 9 Strategic Catchment Management Plans, paving the way for sustainable water and environmental management across the country.
To achieve its targets, the project has mobilised stakeholders from across the identified catchments, including traditional institutions and relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). The collaborative mission seeks to share visions, experiences, and practical strategies for developing plans that reflect the interests of all stakeholders—ensuring the judicious and sustainable use of natural resources.
The Kano State delegation includes members of the State Project Management Unit, as well as stakeholders from key MDAs such as the Ministries of Environment, Agriculture, and Water Resources, alongside representatives of traditional institutions. Notably, the District Head of Gwale, Alhaji Yahaya Inuwa Abbas (Dan Galadiman Kano), is part of the team actively engaging in the mission.
ACReSAL… Greening the environment, saving lives.
