The leadership of Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, known as ‘Damo Sarkin Hakuri’, offers valuable insights into composure, tolerance, and inclusivity.

His unassuming demeanour, notable achievements, and lack of extravagance aptly demonstrate his character.

Today, November 6, marks when numerous friends, colleagues, and well-wishers extend birthday wishes to His Excellency.

However, only a few comprehend the inherent virtues in my principle. On your birthday, Your Excellency, I am compelled to express the privilege of collaborating with an enigmatic mentor and instructor like yourself. Your guidance and influence eliminate mediocrity and foster excellence.

Within one and a half years in office as the number two citizen of the State as. Well as the commissioner of local government and chieftaincy Affairs, you have contributed immensely to the development of the various sectors of the State.

In you, I have seen that there is dignity in labour and that hard work pays. You are a beacon of hope and a strong tower of strength to our teeming youths and humanity.

It should go without saying that your “Marvellous” elevation to the position of the number two citizen was divine, and we pray God to actualise its purpose.

The Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, is dedicated, focused, and motivates others to excel. He upholds punctuality, expects excellence, and does not tolerate carelessness.

A calm leader, he commands respect without being authoritative. His attention to detail and purposeful actions ensure that projects benefit the people.

Having been close to him for nearly 28 years, I confidently assert that Comrade Gwarzo personified simplicity and honesty. His unwavering focus was empowering others to succeed rather than pursuing personal gain.

Gwarzo’s commitment to helping the less fortunate and his inclusive approach are evident in the programs he has initiated.

From his early education through university, he showcased a passion for learning and a thirst for knowledge. Above all, he prioritised loving and positively engaging with people, laying the groundwork for a celebrated future.

His leadership potential was evident from a young age; he served as the youngest headmaster in the old Kano state where he gained valuable insights to become a transformative leader.

Aminu’s career in unionism at NLC and civil service union is a testament to his integrity, professionalism, and competence.

His political journey is a shining example of vision, courage, and charisma. He entered the political arena with a conviction to serve the people and make a positive impact on their lives.

To establish his presence and gain broader acceptance in the political landscape, he embraced the philosophy of great Nigerian leaders who advocated for ‘politics without bitterness.’

By doing so, he extended his hand of friendship to his opponents, winning the hearts of the people in Gwarzo, who overwhelmingly elected him as their Executive Chairman in 1996 and 1999. During his tenure, he initiated a remarkable transformation within the council.

As the former local government Chairman of Gwarzo, he demonstrated purposeful leadership, employing over 5,000 teachers and recruiting hundreds of youths into the Nigeria Police Force.

Comrade Aminu spearheaded remarkable improvements in the community, focusing on essential infrastructure such as roads and healthcare facilities.

His pivotal role in constructing various projects and his dedication to community development underscore his exceptional leadership.

In addition, Comrade Aminu’s political journey and thoughtful approach to selecting competent individuals for government positions exemplify his strategic leadership style.

His personal life, marked by simplicity, contrasts with the expectations of a sitting governor, reflecting his humility and focus on service.

Today, as we celebrate his 64th birthday, we extend our best wishes for his good health and continued success in his leadership and service to our state, country, and humanity. Allah ya kara lara lafiya.

Ibrahim is the official Spokesperson for the Deputy Governor of Kano State.
