The Gumel Emirates of Jigawa state on Saturday, 30th August, went agog as Alhaji Muhammad Yaqub Olanrewaju became the 5th Oba of the Yoruba community of Gumel, Jigawa state.
Turbaning the Oba in his palace, the Emir of Gumel, His Royal Highness, Mai martaba Dr Ahmad Muhammad Sani II, appreciates the Yoruba community, adding that their contributions to the Emirate cannot be overemphasised.

He further explained that the choice of Alhaji Muhammad Yaqub Olanrewaju was made after a fruitful deliberation and consideration.
Presenting the Yoruba staff of office to the new Oba, His Royal Majesty, Dr Murtala Alimi Otisese, the Oba Yoruba of Kano, congratulated the new Oba, His Royal Majesty, Oba Muhammad Yaqub Olanrewaju, and prayed to Allah for divine guidance and wisdom to pilot the affairs of the Yoruba community in Gumel.

Oba Muhammad Yaqub Olanrewaju was born in Kazaure about 51 years ago to the family of the late Alh Olanrewaju (Mai Hoto).
He had his early Quranic and Islamic Education in Gumel. He started his educational career in Galagamma Primary School, Gumal.
Oba Yaqub attended Technical College at Maigatari Local Government and proceeded to learn Weldering and Construction work, thereafter established Muhammad Weldering and Construction company in the year 2000.
He was also the Galadiman Yarbawa to the late Oba Alhaji AbdulAzeez Durotade Bello, who was the 4th Sarkin Yarbawa Gumel.
Dignitaries at the event include Yoruba monarchs from Kazaure, Hadejia, Nguru, Chief of Tiv, Ezes, Chairman and Branch Imam of Jamaatul Islamic Islamiyyah Kano branch, and well-wishers from and beyond the Emirate.
