    Buba Foundation, WIMROF Holds Mental Health Awareness in Kano

    Buba Foundation, in collaboration with Widows Mite Reach Out Foundation WIMROF, organized a sensitization awareness campaign on mental health and depression.

    The event, held at Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Girls Science and Technical College Ja’oji, Kano Capital Girls Secondary Schools and Governor’s Girls College, aimed to educate students bout the importance of mental health, depression awareness and the need to seek help.IMG 20241127 WA0012

    The campaign featured discussions on mental health, and its challenges, taught students to recognize symptoms of mental health issues, equip students with coping mechanisms to manage stress, among others.

    A mental health professional and expert, Dr Fauzziya Buba Idris, hinted that at the end of the campaign, participants would learn about common mental health issues, symptoms, and ways of mitigating them.

    She stressed that the awareness also provided a platform for open discussions and sharing of experiences and concerns.

    In their separate remarks, Founder and Project Manager of WIMROF Foundation Stephenie Okpere and Bukola Mary Sangodele expressed their commitment to continuing this vital work, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and community engagement in promoting mental health and wellness.

    Some of the Participants who spoke to Paradigm News , Nafisa Mustapha Abubakar and Hafsat Usman expressed their appreciations for the awareness campaign describing it as timely.IMG 20241127 WA0006

    The Buba and WIMROF Foundation also donated First Aid Kits to the management of Kano Capital Girls Secondary School.

    The Initiative is part of Buba Foundation’s and Widows Mite Reach Out Foundation’s efforts to promote mental health awareness and depression, reduce stigma, and encourage help-seeking behavior.IMG 20241127 WA0013

    By targeting young people, the foundations aim to equip the next generation with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to maintain good mental health.
