The Managing Director, Kano State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA), Architect Ibrahim Yakub Adamu says anybody found contravening section 11,12 and 13 of  the agency law would face the law.

According to him, the warning is in line with the proliferation of property development without compliance with the relevant sections of the KNUPDA law.

The managing director urged the public to secure building permits from KNUPDA before embarking on property development.

Architect Ibrahim pointed out that the administration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, KNUPDA has simplified the process of acquiring building permits in the state.

” Recently a one-stop unit was established to promptly issue building permits to the public unlike before when it used to take months before the completion of the process”

He however stressed that those applying for building permits should also submit drawings and designs for vetting and assessment before developing any structure to curb building collapse in future.

The managing director enumerated  a series of measures taken by KNUPDA to ensure full compliance by the public.

He described the recent unfortunate incident as an act of negligence as KNUPDA had earlier served them with first and second notice to halt the building.

Architect Ibrahim also disclosed that meetings were held in collaboration with security agencies to find out the developer and bring him to book.

The managing director unveiled the daily exercise to be conducted by a high-powered KNUPDA task force committee to ascertain the building approvals toward minimizing the risk of building collapse in the state.

Architect Ibrahim extended his condolence to the family of the deceased and prayed for the quick recovery of those hospitalized.
