The city of Kano is gearing up to host the 3rd edition of the annual Ibrahim Galadima Cup, a prestigious football tournament honoring the contributions of former Nigeria Football Association (NFA) chairman Ibrahim Galadima.

The tournament, scheduled to kick off on January 4th, 2025, at the Sani Abacha Stadium, will feature 16 teams competing in four groups.
Top clubs participating in the competition include Proline FC, Clever Warriors, Azhuba FC, Kano Pillars FC (junior), Super Stars Sheka, Kwankwasiyya FC, and Dabo Babes FC.
According to the chairman of the media and publicity committee, Ado Salisu, the tournament will maintain its usual festive atmosphere, with teams from outside Kano jurisdiction participating.
Notably, Tiger FC from Funtua, Katsina State, will be making its debut in the competition.
To ensure a smooth and fair competition, VAR facilities will be deployed to assist officiating officials.
The opening match, scheduled for January 4th, promises to be an exciting encounter between Super Stars Sheka and Clever Warriors.

The tournament has attracted the attention of prominent football personalities, including Alhaji Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC); Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF); Isiyaku Umar Tofa, Makaman Bichi; Halilu Baba Dantiye,former Commissioner of Information, Kano State; and Sherif Rabiu Inuwa, Chairman, Kano State Football Association (KSFA).
