A non-governmental organization NGO,Fiscal Discipline and Development Advocacy Centre (FIDAC), in collaboration with the Partnership for Agile Government and Climate Engagement (PACE), organized a one-day capacity-building workshop on Green Budgeting and Financing.
Kano State Takes Bold Step with New Climate Change Policy
Speaking to the newsmen convener of the workshop, who doubles as the executive director ED FIDAC, Dr Abdulsalam Muhammad Kani, explained that the workshop aims at ensuring citizens’ engagement toward understanding the consequences of Climate change in Nigeria.
He pointed out that the workshop will enlighten citizens on how to conduct the expected advocacy for the implementation of the Climate Change Policy in Kano.

Dr. Kani stated that the state earmarked about 30 billion nairas in the 2025 budget for capital projects on climate resilience in Kano.
” We are going to do whatever possible as citizens to ensure monitoring advocacy and sensitization so that Kano will be green in the few next years”
In her presentation,IBP facilitator partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Change PACE Habiba Njidda noted that through government engagement, the Ministry of Planning and Budget requested support to code expenditures related to Climate change projects by mitigation strategy and adaption measures.
Galien Forum Highlights Women’s Role in Addressing Climate Change
She posited that the impact of the Climate Change Policy in Kano would ensure a more stable and climate-resilient Nigeria while the outcome is to promote more inclusive and accountable institutions that to Nigeria’s related governance and Climate challenges.
The director Climate change Kano ministry of environment Umar Saleh Anka stressed that, greening the budget means reducing green house gases low carbon emissions,creating a healthier environment, and sustainable climate resilient state.
He said, what the Kano state government is planning to do in terms of transportation and changing the structure of energy sources will yield positive result regarding climate change.
VP Shettima Urges African Nations To Address Climate Change
Anka urged the public to contribute their quota to the climate change policy by keeping the environment clean, proper waste disposal, pollution among others.
