The Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy (FMACTCE) has taken a significant step forward in its mission to align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu by inaugurating the Multi-Sectoral Strategic Plan (MSSP) Committee and its Sub-Teams.

The MSSP is designed to clearly articulate the Ministry’s vision, mandates, targets, policies, programs, and projects in a cohesive framework that supports national development through the sectors under its purview.

Delivering her remarks at the inauguration, the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Dr. (Mrs.) Zainab C. Pisagih, emphasized the growing global significance of the Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy (ACTCE).

“Over the last two decades, these sectors have been at the forefront of innovation and creativity, with intellectual property serving as a foundational pillar,” she noted.

Dr. Pisagih highlighted Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity, vast human and natural resources, and the potential of its creative industries to drive economic growth and job creation.

“With a population exceeding 209 million and over 300 ethnic groups, Nigeria is home to Africa’s largest economy. Despite existing challenges, we possess an emerging policy framework, a dynamic youth population, the world’s second-largest film industry, a leading music scene, vibrant content creators, and abundant cultural and natural tourist assets,” she said.

She further stressed the importance of the MSSP as a blueprint for economic diversification.

“This strategic plan will promote collaboration with the private sector, civil society, and other stakeholders, positioning the Ministry as a serious driver of economic growth and attracting investment from committed development partners.”

The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, in his address, described the inauguration as more than a ceremonial event.

“It is a bold, forward-looking step that embodies our shared vision to reposition arts, culture, tourism, and the creative economy at the core of national development,” he said.

Dr. Muhammad noted that the sectors under the Ministry’s purview are deeply interconnected with broader development goals and require a coordinated, multi-sectoral approach.

He charged the newly inaugurated committee and sub-teams to embrace bold thinking, inclusive planning, and excellence in execution.

“As we launch the MSSP Committee and its sub-teams, we are not just initiating a bureaucratic process—we are igniting a movement.

A movement that recognizes arts, culture, tourism, and the creative economy not as peripheral sectors, but as strategic pillars for innovation, job creation, national identity, and global relevance,” he concluded.

The Ministry remains committed to fostering a thriving ecosystem for creativity and cultural expression while leveraging these assets for sustainable economic development and social transformation.
