Teenage golfing sensation Grace Agbo of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, has been crowned the overall champion at the 2025 Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) Northern Zone Golf Championship.
The four-day tournament, which kicked off on Wednesday and concluded on Saturday, occurred at the lush and challenging Minna Cantonment Golf Club (MCGC).
Over 250 golfers from nationwide vied for honours at the prestigious event.

Agbo, 18, emerged as the best gross champion after posting a total gross score of 246 over three days, surpassing 45 other talented players who made the final cut in the ladies’ handicap 0-18 category.
Despite a nervy start with a 90 gross on the opening day that left her fourth on the leaderboard, Agbo showed resilience by bouncing back with an 83 gross on Day 2, tying for second with Janet Ali (87, 86).
On the final day, she displayed exceptional composure and skill to return a remarkable 73 gross her best round of the tournament to secure a well-earned victory.
“First of all, I want to thank God Almighty for this victory,” Agbo said after receiving her trophy.

“My heartfelt appreciation goes to my caddy, Emmanuel, and my coach for their guidance. This is one of my most memorable wins because I started nervously but managed to conquer my fears and improve my game each day. My goal is to continue building on this and one day represent Nigeria at international tournaments.”
Justina Gideon followed as runner-up with a total gross score of 259 (87, 86, 86), edging out Janet Ali on a countback.
Ali took third place with her total gross of 259 (86, 88, 85). Rahama Inusa, who had led after the first two days with scores of 82 and 87, slipped to fourth place after a disappointing final round of 91 gross for a total of 260.
Elsewhere in the tournament, Bose Ilori topped the ladies’ handicap 19–28 category with a total gross of 275 (93, 93, 89), while LGAN President Evelyn Oyome took home the ladies’ guest category title with 169 gross (85, 84) over two days.
Saleh Martina was victorious in the ladies’ veteran category with a gross of 204 (101, 103), and Habiba Ibrahim secured the top spot in the special category for handicaps 29–36 with a total gross of 115.
The winners and all participants went home with trophies, medals, and other prizes to mark their achievements.
Dr. Lami Ahmed, LGAN’s 1st Vice President, commended all who made the event a success.
She expressed her gratitude to the Local Organising Committee, the Commandant of TRADOC, Nigerian Army Maj. Gen. K, and everyone who contributed to a memorable championship.
