    The candidate for the position of Regional Director for the African Region at the World Health Organization (WHO) from Senegal, Dr. Ibrahim Socè Fall, has expressed his commitment to combating the burden of infectious and non-communicable diseases, as well as reducing maternal, newborn, and child mortality MNCH in Africa.

    He made these statements during a webinar organized by the African Media Network for the Promotion of Health and Environment (REMAPSEN), which aimed to showcase the candidates vying for the position of African Regional Director at WHO.

    According to him, if elected, he would enhance preparedness and response to Health emergencies by ensuring equitable Access to health services for all, especially the most vulnerable.

    Others are harnessing the power of Innovation and technology in healthcare, by building a strong, proud, and accountable WHO workforce, prioritizing Gender equity, and fostering next-generation.

    “My strategic priorities aim to integrate health With all sectoral policies, to strengthen health Systems, to accelerate the reduction of key health Disparities, accelerate reductions in maternal, Newborn and child mortality, to combat Communicable and non-communicable diseases, To enhance emergency preparedness and Response, and to improve health intelligence”

    Dr. Ibrahim maintained that his vision of a healthier stronger more resilient and self reliant Africa, is aligned with the fourteenth WHO Global Program of Work and its Ambition to deliver universal health coverage (UHC) and primary health care (PHC).

    The candidate pointed out that he will support Member States in the African Region to consistently deliver comprehensive Quality healthcare to all their citizens, Unlocking well-being and prosperity.

    He highlighted that he wants to see a WHO African Regional Office That is reliable, accountable, trusted, diverse, and inclusive, an organization capable of Delivering high-quality evidence-informed Support to Member States.

    “I will strive to reposition Africa at the center Of the global health architecture, both in terms Of leadership and decision-making, in close collaboration with Africa CDC, the African Union, The Regional Economic Communities, partners, Civil society organizations and the private sector”

    Dr. Ibrahim said that if elected, he will do everything within his power to Promote adaptable, resilient health systems by strengthening and fostering Strategic partnerships with Africa CDC and the African Union.

    He emphasized that with effective collaboration between Regional institutions, global partners, and the Leadership of Member States, Africa’s health challenges would be addressed.

    The candidate said achieving global health security and equity, is built on the most solid foundations, saying that he will navigate the challenges ahead, Advancing the health and prosperity of the African continent and beyond”

    “I pledge to work tirelessly with all relevant Parties to advance the health and prosperity Of the African continent and beyond, fostering An environment of shared responsibility, Accountability, and collective action towards Global health security and equity”
