The Kano State branch of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has expressed concern over the activities of illegal and private transportation companies and motor parks, citing them as a threat to security in the state.
Alhaji Jibril Mustafa, Chairman of the Kano State RTEAN, disclosed this in an interview, stressing the need for government intervention to safeguard lives and property.

He called on the government to force illegal operators to join recognized unions, such as RTEAN, NURTW, and NARTO, to restore order in the transportation sector.
According to him,the union has been complying with police directives on vehicle and third-party insurance, and has implemented measures to ensure passenger safety, including screening drivers and vehicles, keeping records, and providing care in case of accidents.
