Kaduna All Stars football team has emerged victorious in the 2025 Northwest Veterans All Stars Qualifier Tournament after a dramatic 3–1 win over Kano All Stars in a penalty shootout.
The tightly contested match, held at the historic Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata in Kano, drew a large crowd of enthusiastic spectators.
Among the dignitaries in attendance was the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Alhaji Abdullahi Ata.

Both teams, featuring former professional footballers, displayed impressive skill and determination throughout the game.
Despite numerous scoring opportunities on both sides, the match ended goalless in regulation time, leading to a penalty shootout.
Kaduna All Stars converted three of their spot kicks, while Kano managed only one.
Alhaji Abdullahi Ata, a former captain of Zumunta Football Club of Fagge, commended the players and coaches for their dedication, discipline, and unity, emphasizing the importance of the competition in fostering camaraderie among ex-players across the region.

“The Veterans All Stars initiative is not just about football. It’s about preserving friendship, supporting each other, and promoting healthy living,” he said.
He also promised to keep his doors open to veterans’ leadership to discuss future collaborations aimed at advancing the sport.
Zonal Coordinator of the Northwest Veterans, Alhaji Danburan Abubakar Nuhu, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and praised the participating teams for their spirit of sportsmanship.
He also appreciated the Kano State Government for providing the necessary facilities and reaffirmed the commitment of the organizing committee to sustaining the championship’s success.
“Football unites people beyond age or background,” Danburan said, noting that he captained the Kano side during their earlier match against Kebbi.
