At a recent meeting with a delegation from the community, led by Professor Ibrahim Garba Riruwai, a renowned geologist, Commissioner Safiyanu emphasized the need for a fair and thorough approach to resolving the dispute.

The meeting was a follow-up to an earlier discussion with another delegation from the community.
The CDA, established in 2020, is due for review after five years.
The community is seeking a revised agreement that addresses their aspirations and needs, while adhering to mining laws.

Commissioner Safiyanu assured the delegation that the ministry would work closely with relevant authorities, including the Kano Mines Development Office and the Federal Ministry of Mines and Solid Mineral Resources Development, to find a solution.
The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Engineer Mansur Yakubu, thanked the delegation for their participation in the meeting, despite short notice.
The ministry is committed to ensuring that the dispute is resolved in a fair and transparent manner, benefiting both the community and the mining company.
