In its efforts to alleviate suffering among its citizens, the Kano State Government has come to the aid of a vulnerable family in Tukuntawa Kano Municipal Local Government Area.
The family, comprising an elderly woman, Hauwa’u, and her eight children, had been living in dire conditions after losing their husband and father several years ago.

They were forced to sleep in a school building at night, moving to their elder daughter’s matrimonial house in the morning to allow students to attend classes.
The family struggled to make ends meet, with no access to food or medical attention.
Upon receiving a report about the family’s plight, the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation swiftly intervened.

Commissioner Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Kibiya revealed that the government had secured a new home for the family, complete with food items, medical care, and education support.
He emphasized the state government’s commitment to uplifting the standard of living among its citizens, particularly the vulnerable.
“Preparations are underway to construct thousands of houses for those in need, with Hauwa’u’s family being among the beneficiaries”
“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has also provided a new house for the family, while the state government will build on the land Hauwa’u inherited from her late husband”

The commissioner appealed to philanthropists, NGOs, and other stakeholders to support the less privileged in society.
The owner of the school, Malam Shehu Yusuf explained that one of the daughters Atika Yahaya approached him to seek his assistance to allow the family to sleep in his school.
He said the school operates three shifts from morning to 8pm there and the family sleeps till daybreak.
Speaking on behalf of her mother, Atika Yahaya pointed out that, the two rooms in her matrimonial home could not contain her mother, brothers, sisters, husband and 7 children.
She hinted that the owner of the school was sympathetic and allowed the family to sleep in the school at night while they spent ther day in her house.
Atikacommended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the commissioner ministry for humanitarian affairs for the intervention.

Recall that kano state government through the ministry of Humanitarian affairs and poverty Alleviation has provided life line to the vulnerable through the donation of food items, clothing, accommodation and empowerment packages to make them self reliant.
