Kano, Nigeria – In a move aimed at ensuring continuity and retaining experienced personnel, Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has extended the service period of several top government officials by two years.
Kano State Government Extends Healthcare Services to Inmates
The extension, effective December 31, 2024, was made through an Executive Order, signed by the Governor in accordance with the Doctrine of necessity.
The decision is backed by sections 5(2) and 208 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).
The beneficiaries of the extension include:
Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, Head of Civil Service Umar Muhammad Jalo, Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, Mu’azatu Isa Dutse, Abdulmuminu Musa, and Tijjani Muhammad Sharif, Permanent Secretaries Bashir Idris Diso, Clerk to the State House of Assembly

Furthermore, some Senior Civil Servants have also been granted a two-year extension, including Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir, Comrade Marwan Mustapha, and several others from the Critical Health Sector.
The Governor’s decision is aimed at retaining experienced personnel and ensuring continuity in the state’s service delivery.
The affected officials have demonstrated high levels of competence, excellence, and responsibility in their duties, and their exit would have created a significant vacuum in the state service.

The extension will enable the officials to continue exercising their functions in accordance with the Civil Service Rules, ensuring effective and efficient service delivery in the state.
