The Provost of ABCOAD, Professor M. A. Wailare, warmly welcomed the 24-member NBTE accreditation team to the college.

In his remarks, Professor Wailare highlighted ABCOAD’s status as one of Nigeria’s oldest agricultural institutions, celebrated for its longstanding tradition of training individuals in practical agricultural skills aimed at promoting economic sustainability and self-reliance.

He expressed optimism that the accreditation visit would further strengthen the college’s dedication to providing quality technical and vocational education in agriculture, ensuring that ABCOAD continues to produce graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.

“I express my gratitude to the Kano State Government, led by His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for funding the accreditation process. This support aligns with the administration’s strong commitment to education, as demonstrated by its allocation of 31% of the total state budget to education — surpassing the UNESCO recommendation,” Prof. Wailare stated.

He also commended the dedication and hard work of the Heads of Department, academic staff, and other staff members whose collective efforts ensured the successful conduct of the accreditation exercise.

According to the college’s Director of Planning, Dr. Sani Haruna, the exercise is part of a quality assurance process that helps institutions and programmes meet established standards, while also encouraging continuous improvement.

“The exercise will assure students that the education they receive is of high quality and relevant to their future career goals, while also providing employers with confidence in the skills and knowledge of graduates,” Dr. Haruna explained.

Meanwhile, Garba Nalado, who led the NBTE accreditation team, commended the ABCOAD management for consistently ensuring that their courses meet the required accreditation standards.

“This visit focuses on assessing both human and material resources, facilitating knowledge transfer between resource persons and the college staff, and offering recommendations where necessary,” Nalado remarked.

Nalado assured that the outcome of the accreditation exercise would be released soon. He also extended his gratitude to Prof. Wailare and the entire ABCOAD management for their warm hospitality and cooperation throughout the process.
