Alhaji Sanusi Mikail Sami has been officially confirmed as the new Emir of Zuru, succeeding the late Emir, retired Major General Muhammad Sani Sami (Gomo II). He is now recognized as Sami Gomo III.
The announcement was made at the Zuru Emir’s Palace by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Garba Dutsin-Mari, who also presented the letter of appointment signed by Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State.

While presenting the letter, the Commissioner explained that the appointment followed the submission of three nominees by the Zuru Emirate Council’s Kingmakers, in line with constitutional provisions. Governor Idris, exercising the powers vested in him, approved Alhaji Sanusi Mikail Sami as the new Emir.
Earlier, the Sarkin Wasagu, Alhaji Muktari Musa—who had served as Acting Emir following the death of the late Emir—formally received the new monarch and welcomed dignitaries to the palace.
In his acceptance speech, the new Emir expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and to Governor Idris for the confidence reposed in him.
He urged the people of Zuru Emirate to remain peaceful, loyal, and united, assuring them of an open-door policy and inclusive leadership.

The Emir also commended the Sarkin Wasagu for his capable stewardship during the transitional period, pledging to continue supporting the progress and stability of the Emirate. He further sought the cooperation and prayers of his subjects to enable him to succeed.
It will be recalled that the late Emir, retired Major General Muhammad Sani Sami (Gomo II), recently passed away in a London hospital and was laid to rest at his residence in Zuru.
