The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, has announced the readiness of the legislative arm to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PROMAD Infotech Foundation to enhance public projects tracking and citizen oversight in the state.
Speaking through his deputy, Rt. Hon. Ololade Gbegudu, at the closeout ceremony for the 18 fellows of the Social Accountability Fellowship organised by PROMAD in Akure on Tuesday, Oladiji revealed that discussions were underway to expand the number of fellows from 18 to 26, ensuring representation for each state constituency.

“This is a first-of-its-kind initiative, and the House has adopted it,” he said. “I urge the fellows to remain steadfast and committed to securing a better future for our State.”
According to the Speaker, the MoU will formalise collaboration between the Assembly and PROMAD to enable citizens to monitor, track, and report government projects in their communities directly to lawmakers for prompt interventions.
The Social Accountability Fellowship is part of the Strengthening Participation, Accountability and Transparency in States (SPATS) project, launched by PROMAD in June with support from ALDA – European Association for Local Democracy under the WYDE Civic Engagement Project.

It is implemented in partnership with the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD), Elbarlament, People in Need, and funded by the European Union (EU).
Through SPATS, PROMAD has been working with the Ondo State House of Assembly and other government agencies to promote participatory and transparent governance.
Once signed, the MoU will establish a new platform for citizens — especially young people — to co-monitor public projects, share findings with legislators, and strengthen grassroots accountability.
It will also support PROMAD’s Follow The Projects initiative, which is developing a real-time dashboard for project monitoring and improving public access to information.
