The former Provost of the School of Nursing Katsina and present Provost Cherish College of Nursing and Midwifery Katsina, Dr Abdullahi Halliru, called for strong collaboration between the state government and the management of the to produce professional medical personnel across the state.
Dr Halliru made the call while speaking to newsmen in Katsina on the recent reopening of their college for the continuation of their academic activities.

He said that the college meets all the requirements needed by the state ministry of health for effective teaching and learning to take place in the institution, adding that the collaboration between the state government and the college will bring a lot of academic development.
According to him, some areas need urgent attention, which include the expansion of the college, and additional classes, among others, so that many students would get admitted into the college.
The Provost further explained that the college will soon commence National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programs as the college gets full accreditation of the courses as well as 42 trained teachers from different fields.
Dr Halliru also explained that the college has its own hospital, 250 beds in the Batsari local government area of the state, demonstration rooms, and Auditorium laboratories, among other edifices needed in institutions like this.
He added that 80 per cent of their students are working across the country as they graduate more than 400 best nurses from the college, adding that the state government is also giving scholarships to indigent students in the state.

In her contribution, the Deputy Provost of the college, Dr Fatima Abdullahi, said the college was established in June 2019 by the former minister of Agriculture and water resources, Late Abba Sayyadi Ruma, to curtail the hardship being faced by the Nigerian youth seeking admission to health institutions.
