The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) has inaugurated 12 governing board members in Kano State to strengthen its humanitarian services and expand support to vulnerable communities.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Branch Executive Secretary, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, said the inauguration marked a crucial step toward enhancing the society’s capacity to deliver life-saving interventions such as emergency shelter, food, clean water, and medical care.

Themed “Empowering Humanitarian Leadership for a Stronger Tomorrow,” Abdullahi noted that the newly inaugurated members were re-elected for a second four-year tenure in recognition of their immense contributions during their first term.
“We are always working closely with both the state and local governments to assist vulnerable people in their respective communities.
Today’s inauguration is another opportunity for us to give more support, especially in disaster response during the rainy season,” he said.
Abdullahi also revealed that the NRCS, in partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), has mapped out support for 20 Local Government Areas in Kano.
Kano State Government Strengthens Ties with Red Cross Society
NAN reports that, as part of this effort, over 3,180 volunteers will embark on house-to-house measles vaccination campaigns across the state between September and October a milestone he described as one of the society’s major achievements.
He urged the governing board to intensify collaboration with management in order to reach the most vulnerable populations in Kano and to develop innovative strategies to scale humanitarian services nationwide.
The new board members represent key portfolios, including youth and gender, mobilisation, finance and property management, and legal affairs.
The inauguration, which drew support from neighbouring states, was attended by the Kaduna State Branch Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Jibril, and the Katsina Branch led by Malam Bala Abdullahi.
