Dutse- The Jigawa government and Sassakawa Africa Association (SSA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to encourage sustainable growth in the agricultural value chain.
The Country Deputy Director, SSA, Dr Abdulhamid Gambo, told journalists on Friday in Dutse, that the agreement involved $100,000 agric intervention in the state.
Gambo was in Dutse as part of the SSA Media Field Tour in the state.
He said the agreement would strengthen ties with the state government towards building the capacity of farmers to enhance agricultural value chain.
The director said the state government demonstrated commitment with the signing of the agreement to fast track implementation of the association’s interventions in the 27 local government areas of the state.
“The association welcomes individual partnerships to scale up technologies that are transforming lives.
“We have trained many farmers and build their capacities, boost productivity and create markets to enable them to sell their produce,” he said.
SAA is an International Non-governmental Organisation (iNGO) registered in 1986 in Geneva, and presently operating as a General Incorporated Foundation in Japan.
The association Is working to improve the livelihood of small holder farmers and reduce poverty by strengthening the relationship between National Agriculture Research and Extension Systems.
It is also working in partnerships with universities, International Agricultural Research Centres, extension workers and farmer organisations, to enhance delivery of comprehensive farmer support services globally.
