The Kano State Government KNSG plans to establish a robust tracking and accountability system aimed at improving healthcare delivery and closing immunization gaps across the state.
Director General of the Kano State Primary Healthcare Management Board (SPHCMB), Professor Salisu Ibrahim, disclosed this commitment while hosting members of the Kano Community of Practice (CoP) on immunization under the Zero Dose Learning Hub ZDLH in his office.

Professor Salisu revealed that Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration is developing a comprehensive roadmap to address immunization challenges, with a particular focus on the two zero-dose local government areas (LGAs) Sumaila and Kumbotso.
He noted that the state will analyze the immunization scorecard to pinpoint bottlenecks in logistics, vaccine supply, and restocking, and will implement sustainable solutions.
The DG commended the CoP’s dedication and assured that the state will provide full support to ensure the programme’s success.
Earlier, Kano CoP Team Lead, Dr. Musa Bello, explained that the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN), in partnership with the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET), is leading the Nigeria ZDLH project.

He noted that, the initiative is designed to coordinate systematic monitoring and learning through the Identify-Reach-Monitor-Measure-Advocate (IRMMA) approach across Kumbotso and Sumaila LGA.
He noted that , it engages with government bodies, academic institutions, civil society organizations, Zero-Dose partners and other health stakeholders to leverage data and evidence in identifying and reaching zero-dose children, testing targeted interventions, and sharing impactful results.
The team lead maintained that,since inception CoP identified logistic gaps, supply and vaccine restocking, saying that through various interventions a lot of success have been achieved.
